Our first online AGM

15th Oct 2020

The very first online AGM of The Crusaders’ Union saw some new faces added to the Board of Trustees of Urban Saints. Following on from a successful online Thanksgiving Service on 3rd October, the AGM (the first of any kind since 2012) took place via Zoom and saw five Trustees up for election.

Chair Sharon Prior and Steve Dengate were re-elected while Janet Dawson, David Fowler and Miriam Hanley were confirmed as the newest Board members.

Janet Dawson has been a lifelong Crusader / Urban Saint for over 40 years, since joining at age 10, and is currently a group leader at Urban Saints Ewell. From many years of employment in Health and Adult Social Care services she also brings qualifications and experience in human resources, quality assurance and procurement.

David Fowler came to faith aged 11 at an Urban Saints' Camp and has been involved ever since – he was a leader at the Wallington Group for many years; worked for Crusaders in West Surrey in the 1990’s and formed and led Woking Crusaders. He has led and spoken at many Group, regional and national Camps and has spent 20 years in full-time pastoral ministry.

Miriam Hanley was introduced to Urban Saints by her husband, who was heavily involved in Guildford Urban Saints for 10 years. Miriam is passionate about relational youth work, and for 5 years ran a small group with her husband for ages 16 to 18. She is a chartered accountant, starting her career in September 2012 as an auditor and brings expertise in audit and financial reporting requirements.

Please pray for the new Trustees as they settle in to their role of supporting the mission and the staff team over the coming months.
