Father’s Day is just around the corner and it’s a brilliant opportunity to help young people express love and appreciation for the father figures in their lives. Whether that’s a dad, carer, grandparent, step-parent, or mentor, this is a valuable moment to pause and celebrate those who’ve made a difference.
We also recognise that Father’s Day can be a tricky time for some. It can stir up difficult emotions or remind us of complicated paternal relationships. However, it’s also a fitting time to reflect on God as our Heavenly Father, one who fulfils everything it means to be a Father, perfectly and lovingly.
As Psalm 68:5 (NIV) reminds us,
“A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling.”
