In a week where all the talk about Europe is tinged with uncertainty, we have some exciting opportunities coming together relating to European Overseas Adventures.
Peter Coggan-Lennox, the Overseas Impact Team Leader for Urban Saints, has spent the week out in Eastern Europe meeting with a potential new partner called Josiah Venture. Josiah Venture are a disciple making youth movement started in the Czech Republic and now working in 14 old Soviet Bloc Eastern European countries. They have a number of ministries supporting churches to develop their youth work and train up disciple making leadership across all of the countries they work in.
We are currently exploring the prospect of supporting their summer camps. Josiah Venture support local churches to run week long camps for local young people as a way of attracting new young people and sharing the Gospel with them and then linking them into weekly discipleship.
This partnership brings a large opportunity for expansion, with three types of camps (sports, music and English), run across the summer (June-August), across 15 countries. Josiah Venture currently run 120 camps and are looking to grow this to 200 camps run each summer. As we look to increase the variety of Adventures and the destinations we can offer, this is a really exciting development for our Overseas Adventures programme.
Please pray for Peter as he concludes his visit and looks to develop these fantastic prospects. Don't forget that we are currently in the middle of 48 hours of continuous prayer (28th to 30th March - click here for more details) and this is a great thing to add to your prayer list.
Please also pray for the ReBuild Mexico teams heading out later this month.
