Sowing a seed of faith

5th Mar 2024

Sowing seeds of faith into young lives is a divine mission. As Galatians 6:9 encourages, "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." Like tender seeds in fertile soil, nurturing faith requires patience and resilience. With love, guidance, and God's Word, we are able to sow seeds of hope, truth and light into their impressionable lives, encouraging the promise of a bountiful spiritual harvest into fruition. Running a weekly Group or Camp is so much more than just leading an event. It's an investment in a future where steadfast beliefs and resilience blossom, creating a legacy of enduring faith that withstands the test of time.

Urban Saints are privileged to be part of the life story for so many children and young people. Yet, none of this would be possible without YOU - our invaluable leaders and volunteers. You are the driving force behind the inception of our dynamic youth groups. Your unwavering dedication breathes life into spaces where children and young minds flourish, creating safe spaces that are havens of growth and belonging. Your boundless passion manifests in these environments, inspiring creativity and personal development, shaping the future by instilling a sense of purpose and community. Your commitment speaks volumes about the transformative power of grassroots initiatives. We want to lift you up, celebrate you and thank you for being the catalysts of change, embodying the essence of service and leaving an indelible mark on the lives of the next generation.

Recognising the transformational impact of sowing a small seed, we asked some of our young people to consider a gift that woud be useful for a leader who was launching a new Urban Saints Group. This birthed 'Project Pencil Case' - an essential tool in any leader's kit to hold a multitude of sharpies and pens! We hope that, alongside the support of the team and other items given out in our new Group Launch Packs, that this one item - handmade by Ella, one of our young people - will be a constant reminder of the harvest we will reap, if we keep sowing love and hope into our children and young people.

Meet Ella

Hellooo! I am Ella, a 14 year old girl who LOVES hamsters, plants, and of course sewing.

I first got into sewing from a young age. I would go over to my nans house every Saturday and she would help teach me. As a 4-6 year old little girl, I mostly watched her. The first thing I made was an owl patchwork pillow and a hand sewn doll. At the age of 6, I got my first sewing machine. It took many years to learn how it worked but now I’m a pro! I persisted with my hobby learning more and more. Now I make clothes and sell scrunchies, so of course, I was so happy to be asked to make pencil cases for new Urban Saints Groups!

Urban Saints has been with me my whole life. I was first introduced to it as a very young girl. Every year I would go away to a Christian weekend Camp called Spree in the Midlands. I have been going there for as long as I can remember! It was a incredible event and I met some amazing people there, did amazing things, and learnt so much. Most importantly, it was the place I became a Christian!

I will forever be grateful for the experiences I have gained from Urban Saints. It has been a huge part of my faith journey, so I feel blessed to have been given the opportunity to make these pencil cases, and I am exited for them to be given to all of you wonderful people as you start your journey with more children and young people like me.
