The way forward in 2023

Urban Saints is committed to our core purpose - to equip a movement of volunteers to disciple young people for Jesus, meeting and supporting them in their local context to the best of our ability. We are so grateful for our incredible volunteers, supporters, donors and staff who help us accomplish this mission.
However, the challenges of the pandemic and the cost-of-living crisis have had a sizeable and negative impact on our income. Therefore, to ensure a sustainable future for our organisation, we have made the difficult decision to restructure, focusing on a return to our local ministry blueprint and core mission. At Urban Saints, we are passionate about providing safe spaces for young people to explore life and faith. We believe that this is best done through week-on-week relationships between children and their Leaders in local Groups.

National Camps programme

The decision will, unfortunately, mean the last national Camps programme will run in summer 2023. However, we will continue to encourage our Group Leaders and Impact Team to develop and build residential experiences, equipping our volunteers at a local and regional level.

We want to provide the very best resources to support local weekly Groups and to transition into the digital world and reach young people in their communities.

In the current format, we believe Energize is a comprehensive resource. Therefore, we are pressing pause on the development of the platform while we consider a more cohesive digital strategy that will include Energize. You will still be able to access all the existing great content but during this transition there will be a reduced team available to provide some new content and to offer customer support.

When Energize first started with dial-up internet, twenty years ago, it was cutting edge and we are pressing pause to look to Jesus for an innovative digital strategy for the next twenty years and beyond.

Staff team

These changes will also impact some staff positions, with some roles becoming redundant and others having their hours reduced. However we are introducing a new role, a Digital Ministry Lead, to help deliver the new digital strategy.

We appreciate your understanding, prayers and support as we navigate these challenges and work towards a sustainable future for our charity. Our mission to disciple more young people continues as our focus. As we look to the future, we see the potential and need for greater growth and impact in local youth ministry. We are excited about the part we can all play in realising the bigger plans and purposes that we know Jesus has for His Church.
