Giving back each summer

3rd Nov 2022

Theadora was part of the leadership team at this summer's Purbeck Venture Camp in Dorset but the Camp has been part of her life and faith journey for many years now. She shared with us what makes Purbeck Venture - and the other Camps she has been part of at Studland - so special and the impact they have had on her life so far...

“I first came to Purbeck Venture at the age of 12 in 2012. As a camper, this was one of the highlights of my summer. I met some of my best friends here and we still lead together today. Part of coming back to lead was realising that some of the ‘magic’ of this place IS the place (the Urban Saints campsite at Studland) but also it’s the leaders that make it what it is. As a camper I would always leave feeling so much closer to God, and the time I spent on Camp was really transformative at the age when I was working out what it was to have my own faith and not just my parents’ faith.

It’s such a privilege to be able to give back what was such an incredible thing for me and hopefully create that for campers coming up now who will hopefully come onto lead. It’s a pretty amazing thing to be part of.”
