Due to the lockdowns at the start of 2021 across the Nations, the Ireland Easter house-parties had to run online for the second consecutive year. Whilst the teams were obviously really disappointed not to be able to run face to face again, they stepped up to the challenge and ran hugely creative online Camps that were greatly valued by all involved.
First-time ‘main-leader’ Josh Harbinson shared some of his highlights of Easter Boys Online with us recently. The ‘theme’ for the Camp was Star Wars, exploring where the films compared to various parts of the Easter story and characters from the films were compared to people at the first Easter.
Over 20 boys and leaders engaged with the online Camp, including a number of new campers which was really encouraging. The feedback from parents both during and afterwards was very positive.
We asked Josh a couple of questions about his experience of running his first online Easter House Party...
Tell us a little about what went on over the Easter Boys online Camp?
Josh: We sent out a video every night, in the format of a traditional 'evening session'. We had several slots during this including postbox, tuck shop, a world record challenge and of course a talk. We had an activity on the Saturday of camp and a zoom quiz evening on the last day of camp. The boys were sent items to help make it a more interactive experience, including tuck for the tuck-shop reviews.
What was your personal highlight?
Josh: I really enjoyed seeing the videos and pictures the campers sent in. They were brilliant at getting involved, whether having a go at the world record challenges or getting pictures for the Saturday building activity, and it was great to see them having fun with Camp.

Let’s be praying for this Camp - for the young people as they head back to school and for the leaders in university as they study (mainly) remotely. Also, pray giving thanks that despite the pandemic, the team knew God’s blessing over Easter Boys House Party this year.
