The New Year House Party family celebrating the start of 2019 together

Celebrating New Year with the family

15th Jan 2019

How many young people came to faith at your New Year Celebrations? The New Year House Party, at Urban Saints Westbrook, was the place to be at the start of 2019. We asked one of the House Party leaders to give us a brief update on the celebration of the year that took place at our Isle of Wight centre...

"I met with God in a very special way"

We have three rules at New Year House Party (NYHP). The first of these is ‘we are family.’ This year our NYHP family witnessed 6 young people give their lives to Jesus.

On the last night we had a testimony slot where around 35 young people shared things they felt God had done in their lives that week. These ranged from healing to spiritual gifts; confidence, peace, friends when they’d thought they had none and support when they’d come feeling like the only Christian. One of the young men who came on the Camp for the first time this year emailed us to say this:

"I thoroughly enjoyed myself and met lots of new people. I also met with God in a very special way. I already miss NYHP and can’t wait for next year... Please pray for me in my walk of faith and school work."

And the second and third rules? You’ll have to come to find out.

It wasn't just the New Year House Party 'family' that were encouraged by the celebrations. Our centre staff team always look forward to this particular booking. Urban Saints Westbrook Centre Director, Jo Baynham, recalled the climactic night in his own words...

“It was great to host the NYHP team back at Westbrook, it’s a real annual highlight. I had the privilege of sharing the Lord's Supper with the young people and leaders in the early hours of New Year's Day, so many young people came to the foot of the rugged cross hewn and tied by the leaders in the days preceding. Many declared “Jesus is Lord” for the first time; more again recommitted their lives to Him. Heaven's rapturous celebrations and the Mighty One’s favour gave the room a density and volume of hope and joy that is hard to put into words.”
