Camps and Sprees FAQs for Parents

Updated: 30th April 2020

These FAQs are designed to answer the main questions that parents might have relating to the coronavirus outbreak (COVID-19). They will be regularly reviewed and updated but are correct as at the date stated above.

Following the guidance of the Prime Minister on Monday 23rd March, we have had to seriously consider the repercussions of the coronavirus pandemic on the Camps ministry for summer 2020.

It is with great regret that we have taken the decision not to run Easter camps, Whit camps and all Sprees in 2020. Additionally, we have made the decision to cancel some of our summer Camps now whilst deferring a decision on the remainder of the summer camps programme, for review in the coming weeks.

Why have we cancelled Spree?

Following on from the Government announcement on Monday 23rd March, when the Prime Minister called on us all to suspend all unnecessary travel and to stay at home wherever possible, it is no longer wise or realistic to run our Sprees during June and July. Therefore, it is with great regret that we have taken the decision to postpone all Urban Saints' Sprees until 2021.

As Urban Saints have cancelled Spree, will we receive refunds?

All fees will be refunded to your group leader (the leader who booked the group onto Spree).  They will be responsible for returning fees to parents/ guardians.

In what circumstances would we cancel a Camp?

The safety of all those on our Camps is of paramount importance. Therefore, we would cancel a Camp if Government advice directly required it or if Urban Saints’ assessment of the situation was that it was not safe to run (this could be for a number of reasons).

Are Camps running in the summer?

Making decisions on Camps that run later in the summer is difficult given the short-term nature of current Government guidance and changing nature of this situation. Therefore, we have made the difficult decision to cancel some of our Camps now whilst deferring a decision on the remainder of the summer Camps programme, for review in the coming weeks.

Which Camps are cancelled?

Having liaised closely with the leadership of each Camp, we have sadly had to make the decision to cancel some of our summer programme now. Click here to see which Camps are cancelled. Please note that when Urban Saints cancel a Camp, a full refund will be provided

If Camps are cancelled, will we be due refunds?

If Urban Saints decide to cancel a Camp then all fees will be refunded.

If I withdraw my child from attending a Camp, will we be due a refund?

In this circumstance, you will not be due a refund as you will be subject to our standard terms and conditions. See urbansaints.org/termsandconditions for further details.

However, if your child has to be withdrawn from attending a Camp for a coronavirus-related medical reason and has a note from a doctor to confirm this, then a refund will be issued.

Will more Camps be cancelled?

For some Camps, we will hold off making a decision until further Government guidance is available. We will provide a further update by the middle of May 2020 at the latest.

What measures will Urban Saints take before and during the Camp to minimise the risk of infection?

Additional information will be issued (in line with Government advice) for both leaders and young people, about arrangements for coming to Camp. Any recommended hygiene practices (e.g. extra handwashing) will be followed during the Camp.

If you have any further questions relating to the Camp / Spree you or your child is attending, please contact the main leader of that Camp / Spree (as detailed on the event's web page)
