All Change
A major change in the way Urban Saints is governed has been approved at a special meeting this week. It means that every Leader will have the opportunity to have a greater say in the development and the future of the movement.

“(Urban Saints) are not just a service provider or a top-down led organisation. We are a family committed to a common cause; to help young people live lives of Faith, Hope and Love through Jesus Christ.” – Peter Jeffrey (Chair of Executive)

At a Special General Meeting on Saturday October 6th, representatives from across the leadership and support structure of Urban Saints voted in favour of a change in constitution, allowing all members (Group Leaders, Support Leaders and Honorary Life Members) to be eligible for election to the board of Trustees (the Executive Committee of Urban Saints). Previously, only members of the General Council could be voted on to the board but the change in constitution replaces the need for a General Council by inviting all leaders to an Annual General Meeting instead. This does mean that from January 2008, the General Council will cease to exist.

Nigel Spencer will finish his role as Council Chairman in January after 7 years loyal and dedicated service to Urban Saints. The special meeting was also an opportunity to thank Nigel for his hard work and dedication during his time. Nigel has been involved in all aspects of Urban Saints’ ministry, not just fulfilling his duties as chairman. These have included running his own Group in Ramsay, Essex, helping with the organisation of the annual Athletics championships, representing the movement at exhibitions and public events, organising a nostalgic ‘Steam Special’ event and even delivering a telegram from the Queen live on stage at the Royal Albert Hall!

The whole team at Urban Saints are very grateful to Nigel for his commitment to the movement and the mission to reach the rising generations!
