In September, Urban Saints and Transforming Luton Prayer (a group of representatives of the local Luton churches) launched a permanent prayer space in "The Upper Room" at Kestin House. For Urban Saints, it marked a commitment to raise the levels of prayer in and through the movement and our desire to pray continuously for a whole year before our Re:Act missions next summer.
It also further strengthens our partnerships with the local churches in Luton, who are sharing the space to pray and intercede on behalf of our town. We are indebted to their massive support and encouragement to get this space up and running.
We have now officially opened the doors to the public to come and join us in praying for the movement, for Re:Act and for the town of Luton. We'd love people to come and join us - to see the way that prayer can be vibrant and creative and can really make a crucial difference in both a town and a whole movement!
It is best to book a slot if you are planning to come and use the room but it is possible to call in during office hours. It is even possible, given enough notice, to arrange for visitors to stay overnight but however you want to get involved, we challenge you to get serious about your prayer life and join us as we look forward to an awesome 2008 ahead of us...
'There's no doubt that God has been stirring us to dig deeper in prayer. I can remember someone once challenging us as a team with the words "Your future is only as good as your prayer life". With this in mind, we're excited about what God is doing in us and we're hope-filled about what He will do through us, as we spend more time listening to Him' - Matt Summerfield, Executive Director
'We are very pleased to be part of the prayer room venture. It is beginning to be used now by groups praying for Luton and is much appreciated by the individuals who are using it to draw close to God.' - Cathy Pullinger, Transforming Luton Prayer |
