At Urban Saints, we are committed to good stewardship - both financially and environmentally. But what does that mean for our communications?
At Urban Saints we are committed to good stewardship - both of the funds generously donated by our amazing supporters and of the resources of our planet. This commitment always influences how we communicate to our leaders, volunteers and supporters. We are currently investigating ways to move from a heavy reliance on postal communication to a range of electronic methods.
While we will continue to use traditional mail, we are increasingly turning to email, web pages and social media to share the heartbeat of the movement and to communicate our message. This is more cost-effective, as mailing and print costs continue to rise, and is better for the environment too. It also reflects the changing way that we communicate as a society - and as we seek to grow as a movement, we need to look for ways to connect more effectively with potential volunteers and supporters.
To this end we are introducing the following:
A more structured schedule of email updates - including tips for enhancing your ministry and mission with children and young people; upcoming events; stories and testimonies from around the movement and opportunities to get more involved.
A story-driven website or blog - sharing glimpses and snapshots of what God is doing in and through people throughout the urban saints network and circulating them better using social media channels like Facebook and Twitter. Imagine the great stories and testimonies you read about in the Engage magazine - but all year round!
Greater levels of monitoring of our communications - to determine just how effectively we are sharing our messages and involving people in the Urban Saints story.
Ultimately, we plan to offer the chance for individual leaders, volunteers and supporters the option to choose what form the communications they receive take but in the short term, we humbly ask for you to bear with us. You may, for example, receive more emails than you'd choose to initially but please do be patient with us while we work out the most effective way to keep you informed of all the wonderful things God is doing in and through Urban Saints!
If you have any constructive feedback that you think might help us communicate even better, please feel free to share it with the team at Kestin House
