Grow Success
In early February, Urban Saints Ireland embarked on a new fundraising initiative based around The Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25:14-26)
Each group was given £10 and their mission if they chose to accept it was to make their £10 grow. Saturday 30th May saw the end of this initiative with the groups getting together in the Church of Ireland Centre, Elmwood Avenue, Belfast for a time of worship and celebration.

The evening was attended by 51 young people and leaders. We began our time with a time of worship and celebration. This was followed by a reminder of the fun and banter at this year’s house parties courtesy of the Senior Boys promotional DVD!!. In order that the maximum amount of information was taken in we turned this into an observation quiz, and as it turns out the girls seem to have a better eye for the finer detail and therefore clinching the much coveted quiz prize, (a box of mini fudge tea cakes).

We took some time to hear back from various groups about how they made their £10 grow which ranged from selling breakfasts at a dawn service to individuals putting themselves through the gruelling Belfast marathon. Then there was a Social (for the townies that’s a disco with games thrown in) along with a few table quizzes and other ideas that are probably best not talked about.

This whole event centred on Matthew 25:14-26 and it’s to this passage we turned to next in our time together, to explore what this means for us in our daily walk of faith. In the wake of the ever popular Britain’s Got Talent were the decision of whether you are talented or not is left to Piers, Amanda and Simon, many leave elated but many more leave shattered and deflated. It is amazing as we consider this passage to consider there is no untalented people in the Kingdom of God. It blows me away to think God has uniquely invested in each of our lives and calls us AND challenges us to use these to bless others in the world around us and ultimately to bring glory to His name.

It is our prayer that this period of Grow would have been a blessing to you as it has been to the whole Urban Saints’ family.

Many thanks to all our groups who took part, your efforts have made a huge difference.
