| You've Got To Hand It To Ultimate Event! |

| We were surprised at the response at last year's Ultimate Event - the big Christian music show at Alton Towers - but surely it couldn't happen again?! Oh, but it did! |

Urban Saints first got involved in the Ultimate Event last year, helping to sponsor it and running a leaders' chill-out marquee. The response from the guests was fantastic and we were delighted to be involved again last month. With finances stretched and numbers rumoured to be down on 2008, we wondered just how good the response would this time. But we needn't have been worried as it was another great day of rides, music and mayhem!
Once again, we arranged for a leaders' zone, filled with treats for tired youth leaders and set up our exhibition stand, selling foam hands, Urban Saints hoodies and loads of other merchandise. We even managed to get into the Alton Towers park once we were set up and had time for a couple of awesome rides...
The event itself was brilliant and the response was superb. The leaders marquee was jam-packed with even more leaders connecting with us and getting some pampering! We gave out hundreds of little boxes and chocolates as a small "thank you" to the hard-working volunteers. It prompted one leader to tell us that she had "never been thanked by anyone despite years of working with young people..." The exhibition stand was similarly bustling with merchandise and resources flying off the shelves! We sold out of big foam hands as quickly as last year (despite three or four times the amount of stock...) and we also sold out of our hoodies before the end of the night! It was great to wander amongst the crowd seeing loads of Urban Saints logos everywhere!
I guess for most people there, the real focus was on the music and the bands and they would not have been disappointed either! Thebandwithnoname were their usual energetic selves and there were also entertaining performances by Bluetree and Superchick. Yfriday are becoming a real Ultimate Event favourite act (and, of course, regular appearances at Urban Saints' events too!) and Kutless rounded things off with a soaring, breathless performance. It was quite a spectacle!
All in all, Ultimate Event was a great day for Urban Saints and for ALL those involved... |
